Ladies Luncheon/Garden Party

Posted on April 12, 2016 by Sealed with a B

Well here it goes…..my first ever Lifestyle blog post. There’s so many times I’ve been wanting to write on this page but honestly time goes on and then I just let it slip away.

One of my hobbies and something I’m passionate about is party planning. Whether it be a baby/bridal shower, a holiday, birthday party or just any occasion, I LOVE, I repeat LOVE to entertain and host. I’m one of those that loves to have a theme and put a lot of time and effort in a party. I want it to be just perfect !

What better way to kick off spring with an indoor Garden Party/Ladies Luncheon (considering it’s only April and I live in Mn it was best to have inside). I mean after all, Spring is the season to refresh, renew, and celebrate!! .

When my husband first asked me what is a garden party, I simply replied, it’s just an excuse to have my girlfriends over and celebrate springs arrival. He later said…I have a great idea, why not have all the girls start digging away outside in the garden (which is a mess and not pretty at all being winter just left) and get dirty. Yeah right, if I told them they were gonna do that, no one would have shown up.

I hope you enjoy the overload of pics!

All decor was found at Michaels except for the lace piece. Found that at Goodwill.

I love to have different set ups to separate the food and drinks. I found these adorable little garden essential trinkets at Michaels in the $1 section. At the time of purchasing I had no idea what I was gonna use them for but knew they fit the theme perfectly and would find a place for them. Later a light bulb went off in my head. I thought why not use them for wine charms?! Ding ding ding!!!!

The first thing that came to my mind when having this garden party was vintage teacups. Not to serve tea in, but to be creative and use them for decor and other edibles besides tea. There’s just something so elegant about them. I spent a lot of time picking up these little guys at the local thrift stores. Let me just say I’ve got quite the collection going on. I honestly can’t believe people get rid of these beauties! There such collectibles. One of my favorite things about hosting is having the perfect table-setting. I thought what a perfect idea to have the teacups with fresh flowers as my centerpiece and use my chandelier candle/cupcake holders. It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly.

My teak wooden bowl came in handy (it’s always on my coffee table). I placed succulents and rocks in it and found a lace valance and used it for a table runner.

I had a few flower crowns for the girls to wear if they wanted. I always have to have some sort of prop or props to take pictures in.

Found another use for some of the teacups. Served the ladies Cold Cucumber Dill Soup in them with the cutest little mini spoons. So delicious and refreshing.

Watermelon Mint Arugula Salad. Top if off with feta and almonds and a red wine vinaigrette dressing with olive oil and lemon juice. Used garden rakes instead of tongs.

I used these adorable little mason jars (yes I sat and unassembled the tops of the jars and tied ribbon around them instead) to serve minidesserts. Thank goodness these Lemon Custard with Thyme Crumble and Mascarpone and honey were a hit because they were a lot of work!! Did I mention I stayed up til 2:15am the night before making the custard!?

If you know me I can’t have a party without a signature drink(s). My new console table works so well for a drink table. I was inspired by a floral display/arrangement as a centerpiece on a table at Bachmanns. I knew I could make one very similar for half the cost (there’s was $70). Sure enough I found the perfect pieces for literally 1/2 the price. I found this gorgeous antique pitcher at a used furniture/household store for $7. All of the floral was found at Joanns for 50% off and the cute green moss balls I got at Bachmanns and the tray I already had. I will keep this arrangement up all summer long! So happy I can reuse this every year!!!

Rose Petal Sangria. All I have to say is this is one tasty and pretty drink. Between the making of the rose simple syrup and the aroma of essential oils of grapefruit, lavender and lemongrass in my diffuser, my house still smells amazing!! I was on the hunt for dried rose petals and found them at a co-op. Did you know that rose petals have a lot of healthy and beauty benefits?

Not only is lavendar great for stress and headaches but it also has a yummy flavor. It’s one of my favorite scents and I couldn’t wait to actually taste it in this Lavendar Lemonade. It was so refreshing!

Last but not least…The fashion!!! I couldn’t go without being festive and dressing to fit theme. I of course had to buy a new dress!
